Business Development Manager

Salary £26k-£32k + commission


DA Languages Ltd. was established in 1998 by current CEO, Actar Arya. Now, 21 years on, DA Languages Ltd have moved into brand new offices in Old Trafford and are considered one of the most trusted and reliable providers of languages services to the Public Sector. Having recently received backing from Private Equity investors, Foresight, their focus is very much on the next five years and driving the growth strategy which will include investment in their technology in the near future.

The company has already developed its own bespoke operating system, DA Link, which comprises an online portal accessible 24/7/365 by clients, linguists and staff.

Their mission is simple; to provide better Language services for both clients and linguists alike.

The Requirement

This is a newly created role to lead targeted new business development for the Private Sector, as well as growing and developing their Public Sector client base.

The successful candidate will report directly into the Bid Manager and will be responsible for opening new business opportunities to grow the business in line with the company vision

  • Face to face interpreting
  • Audio visual services such as subtitling, transcription and voiceovers
  • Translation services
  • Language testing and training
  • Court and legal interpreting
  • Sign language and braille
  • Bilingual language support assistants
  • Telephone interpreting
  • Proofreading

Over 550 languages are covered, using 15,000 vetted professional linguists.  The majority of their clients are made up of Public Sector but the vision is to grow into the private sector

The Position – Business Development Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • To identify new business opportunities – including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, products and services by creating a sales pipeline.
  • To drive new business in the Private Sector by identifying and researching the target market, working with established clients, attending supplier events to promote the company and maintaining contact with converted clients where appropriate to identify further opportunities.
  • Continue the growth and development of the Public Sector.
  • Provide help on bids and presentations.
  • Initiate and maintain B2B conversations and relationship building.

The Candidate

  • Track record of sales through lead generation in the professional services sectors. Results driven and self-motivated to follow up.
  • Proven telephone and face to face-based relationship selling with a strong background in cold calling.
  • Sales pipeline management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office (Word/Excel/PPT/Outlook).
  • Strong verbal communication and able to present and articulate to a high standard.
  • Strong written skills.
  • Fantastic relationship building skills through networking, tele sales and email communication.
  • Integrity coupled with a strong customer service ethos.
  • Collaborating: Working as a seamless team from a business perspective, and advocating and supporting colleagues.
  • Willingness to travel as and when required.
  • Possess a good understanding of the businesses’ products or services and be able to advise others about them
  • Experience of working within the translation and interpretation sector would be an advantage.
