Senior Bid Manager

At DA Languages, we have a fantastic opportunity for someone to further their career in a leading provider for translation and interpreting services and gain practical experience within our Bid Writing Team.

This team are key in securing new, sustainable, and profitable work in the public sector and this role is to head up our Bid Team to manage, co-ordinate and write tenders for exciting and complex projects, as well as guiding and supporting leaders and managers to effectively deliver winning bids.

Essential skills and attributes

  • Degree educated, with a high level of proficiency in Maths and English
  • A passionate individual with a professional tendering background spanning across multiple organisations
  • Researching expertise (externally and internally); working relentlessly to get information out of the business
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with close attention to detail
  • Demonstrable experience of running a bid team within a busy commercial environment
  • Previous experience of understanding, overseeing and managing the bid process from start to finish
  • Resilient and target driven with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Track record in sourcing and assessing strategic opportunities that meet the organisation’s goals
  • Strong capability to continuously improve tenders to be market-leading
  • Proven tenacity and dedication to workload
  • Applicants must be flexible with working hours as this role may involve longer hours to meet tight deadlines from time to time

Desirable skills and attributes

  • Holding a degree within Journalism / English Literature / History or a writing/research-specific subject
  • Professional knowledge of the translation industry
  • Solves problems and finds new opportunity without needing direction
  • Plethora of managerial experience across a vast range of industries
  • The ability to write about complex, technical concepts in easy-to-understand ways and convey ideas graphically

Role Responsibilities

  • Managing, mentoring and supporting our dedicated Bid Team
  • Create, implement and manage a project plan to deliver bid requirements on time and on budget
  • Manage and maintain essential bid documentation
  • Production of relevant information to support the bid Management process
  • To constructively analyse bid approach and evaluation feedback to help contribute to the continuous improvement of the tendering process
  • Communicating requirements, deadlines and expectations to key stakeholders and the bid team
  • Providing monthly reports on team progress/targets
  • Monitor all procurement portals and produce weekly reports on all opportunities available to the business
  • Keeping a broad commercial awareness and business intelligence, and alerting the sales team to any potential opportunities
  • Creating solutions and working with the Bid Management Team to deliver competitive proposals and ensure compliance with the stated processes and methodologies.
  • Undertaking additional projects and activities to support Bid Management and Business Development as required
