Data Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable ETL pipelines to efficiently extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources into the data warehouse.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and implement data solutions that meet business needs.
• Optimize and fine-tune ETL processes for performance, reliability, and data quality.
• Ensure the security, integrity, and privacy of sensitive data throughout the ETL process.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines, identifying and resolving issues promptly to minimize disruptions.
• Implement data validation and quality checks to guarantee accuracy and consistency of data.
• Research and evaluate new tools and technologies to enhance the data engineering process and improve efficiency.
• Work with cloud-based services (such as AWS, Azure, GCP) to deploy and manage data infrastructure components.
• Document processes, data flows, and technical specifications for future reference.
• Explore the use of Machine Learning models across our data warehouses for actionable business insights.

Qualifications and requirements

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is a plus but not essential or expected.
• Proven experience as a Data Engineer, with a strong understanding of ETL principles and best practices.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, with experience in data manipulation and transformation.
• Familiarity with data modeling concepts and data warehousing principles.
• Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, DocumentDB).
• Working knowledge of cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS Glue, AWS S3, Hadoop, EMR & ElasticSearch).
• Ability to write and optimize SQL queries for data extraction and analysis.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex data pipeline issues.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance standards is a plus.
• Certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics, Google Professional Data Engineer) are a plus.
