Business Development Manager

Role summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and capable Business Development Manager to join the team.

You will be responsible for identifying new public sector business opportunities and support in converting them into long-term clients. Regular UK travel is a prerequisite of the role as well as a willingness to work from our head office in Greater Manchester.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Identify and approach key-decision makers in the public sector via different channels
  • Accurately provide to Head of Tenders, monthly and quarterly sales forecasts
  • Representing the organisation at exhibitions, events, and demonstrations
  • Gather competitive information and other market information regularly
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of our services and products
  • Negotiate and establish pricing and terms according to company’s requirements for customer and transaction profitability
  • Develop quotes, proposals, and presentations to new customers
  • Follow company policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Key knowledge and skills required:

  • Applicants must have a public sector sales background and be able to demonstrate this and provide evidence of success.
  • Meeting sales goals and increasing revenue
  • Experience in building market maps
  • Strong knowledge of public contract regulations
  • Effective listening, communication, and strong negotiating skills
  • Advanced presentation skills
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical ability
  • Team player who can build relationships with other business stakeholders
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills with experience of managing own time and prioritising own workload
  • Enjoys working on own initiative
  • Proficient MS Office user

Desirable knowledge and skills required:

  • Experience in interpreting and translation industry desirable but not essential
  • Experience with CRM tools
