Actar is the CEO of DA Languages and is extremely passionate about the language industry.
In fact, she had worked as a freelance interpreter prior to starting up DA Languages in 1998. Through running DPSI training and examination centres, Actar has helped linguists be fully prepared for the variety of work the industry demands.
Actar is very proud that DA Languages are now established as one of the most trusted and reliable providers of languages services to the Public Sector. And she puts this down to excellent customer service and delivering services on time and to budget. On the rare occasions when she gets some spare time, Actar likes to relax by cooking, reading and painting.
Matthew has extensive knowledge and experience within the language service industry. Joining DA Languages, a just over a year ago, he has worked hard to coordinate and manage DA Languages growth and improvement as a business. Matthew is a director with a wide-ranging influence across strategy and direction and successfully carried out the implementation of a significant Ministry of Justice contract.
Matthew is now dedicated to setting a clear and bold vision for the future growth of DAL.
Matthew is an accomplished business leader, with concentrated experience in service and sales transformation, delivering revenue and strong business to business relationship management expertise. He has a wealth of experience working within several challenging and highly regulated industries. His goal is to ensure DA Languages deliver a smooth and efficient service to both linguists and clients alike. Outside of work, Matthew is an avid football fan.
With 4 years industry experience, he’s accountable for the management and oversight of sales, marketing and profitability/growth objectives. Developing regional sales operations, implementing a comprehensive sales strategy including digital sales plan, business plans, quotas, incentives, forecasting and competitive analysis.
Catherine joined DA Languages in November 2018 and strives to continuously improve the finance function ensuring key controls are in place through strong analytical skills. She supports and oversees the payments department and offers her extensive Excel skill set whenever and wherever needed! New to the industry, Catherine relishes the fast paced environment. Not only that, the language industry itself is the reason Catherine enjoys working at DA Languages, along with all the people who work here, and can honestly say she is proud to be a part of the team.
Dave is the business development manager responsible for maintaining DA Languages’ pipeline of client opportunities and completing bids and tenders. Dave has nearly 20 years’ experience in these fields and previously worked for large suppliers of telecommunications, IT and project management recruitment solutions. Outside of work, Dave enjoys cycling, hill walking, reading, cooking and watching most sports.
Debbie is DA Languages’ longest serving member of staff, having been with the company since 2007. In this time, she’s seen the company grow exponentially. Having previously worked as an administrator for a busy solicitor’s firm, she joined DA Languages as a booking co-ordinator and soon showed how super-organisational and proactive she can be. Debbie has helped develop the company into the vibrant, busy workplace we know and love today. As well as keeping the office functioning; this self-confessed queen of multi-tasking provides support for staff, encourages team spirit and keeps office motivation high. Outside of work Debbie owns horses and has recently started riding competitively again. She also adores her dog (Molly) and loves a brisk walk in the Cheshire countryside.
Emma has been with the company for 1 year now and leads the Risk, Compliance and HR functions. She has a wealth of experience in all 3 areas as well as project and change management. As a proactive and future minded individual Emma is not afraid to get stuck in all areas of the business and is constantly striving for improvement and growth for DA Languages. Emma may be new to the industry but has not hesitated to dive in at the deep end, she is even learning Portuguese! As a fundamental part of DA Languages from handling the day to day through HR as well as getting involved in the big picture by making sure DA Languages is up to code in every possible way.
Rania’s main responsibilities include building and maintaining relationships with our portfolio of clients and enhancing the client experience by developing client retention strategies that work and matter.
DA Languages has been her second home for the last few years. It has allowed Rania to explore her skills and strengths and to be creative in her role. She enjoys the multicultural and vibrant environment and it’s a place she looks forward coming every day. Rania’s academic background lies in Linguistics & Literature and she has been working with languages all her life. She sees the Translation and Interpretation industry as the platform that allows people of different backgrounds and cultures to communicate and bridge any barriers.
Rania has a passion for films and learning new languages. Rania can speak English, Greek, Italian and has a grasp of Arabic and French.
Sonia’s focus is to facilitate written communication between our clients and their end-users. Her team of Project Managers all have end-to-end ownership of translation projects, from client consultation to project evaluation and quoting, through to managing linguist performance and quality assessment.
Sonia has worked in translation all her adult life, starting off on the other side of the mirror as a freelancer. She loves being able to use her skills and experience to help people access services they wouldn’t otherwise be able to access and achieve their goals.
Sonia has two cats, Tony and Nikita, and says that they are beautiful (which they are).
Ruth is DA Languages’ resident trouble shooter; she ensures all job bookings run smoothly and communication flows efficiently between all parties involved in our projects. Previously, Ruth has worked as an administrator for various airlines at Manchester Airport and this busy and demanding work style means she is well suited to the fast-paced environment of the DA Languages office. Ruth’s hard work and positive attitude earned her promotion to Team Leader and she successfully manages the administration team, and acts as the bridge between our clients, staff and linguists. Outside of work Ruth is an advocate of Zumba, loves running and enjoys spending her time with her friends and family.
